Agave macroacantha

One of the medium sized of the Agaves reaching about a foot in width.  In time it will form offsets around the base increasing in size.  The color of the leaves can be blue-gray to somewhat green.  The teeth are quite ornamental with the terminal sometimes being pure black.  

In Phoenix, it looks its best with a bit of protection from the harsh summer sun.  It also looks amazing in a container as well as in the garden.
