Butia capitata-Pindo Palm

This is one of the hardy palms. Useful in containers for a tropical effect. Will grow in full sun or partial shade. Can reach 20' by 8'. Slow but quickens with moisture.

The fronds are grayish in color and have persistent leaf bases. Native to Brazil and Argentina and Uruguay. Short lived 30-40 years. Short heavy trunk.
