Casuarina cunninghamiana-River She-Oak
Casuarinaceae Family

This is a large growing Australian import growing to 70' by 30'.  The branches are actually what one sees instead of leaves and are fine textured and dark green looking much line pine needles.  This tree has an open canopy and pine-like foliage.  It is very tolerant of tough conditions dry or wet, hot or windy.

It is often used to control soil erosion.  Sun or partial sun.  Good for brackish situations.  It is not as drought tolerant as Casuarina stricta and does need deep soil.  It produces a heavy leaf thatch.  Invasive in high rainfall areas.  Rapid grower and tallest of the Casuarinas so avoid tight areas.
