In fall and winter, the oval red fruit make
a show on this rather inconspicuous plant. It is a shrubby Cholla
growing to 2' high and 3' wide with slender light green joints.
The bronze flowers appear along stems in May and June. It is
native on desert flats usually in heavier soils from 1000'-5000' in
elevation from Oklahoma into northern Mexico.
