Young globular shaped plants eventually
elongate to a cylindrical shape. Can reach to 9' at maturity with
a stem measuring 18" in diameter. Green skin. Central spines
can be yellow, red or brown. Flowers in March and flowers are
funnel shaped yellow to orange. It is found on rocky slopes to
3000' from California to south west Arizona into Mexico. It should
have full sun and a well drained site.
