Gleditsia triacanthos-Honey Locust
Fabaceae Family

North American native growing quickly to 70' by 35' with an upright spreading habit.  Leaves are bright green and ferny textured.  Leaves are late to leaf out in Spring.  Fall color is yellow.  It does provide nice filtered shade where it grows well.  In the low desert it is not a good choice.  Some selections have nasty large thorns and some have as well large seed pods
