Leucophyllum candidum 'Thundercloud'
Scophulariaceae Family

A Chihuahuan desert native to dry alkaline areas so is quite at home in the low desert.  It will grow to 3-4' by the same.  Deep purple flowers appear with changes in the barometric pressure in summer months especially during the monsoon in the low desert.  Foliage is silvery gray.  It will perform best with deep and infrequent irrigations in full sun.  It is prone to rot with too much water too frequently and will suffer as well in poorly drained soil.
