Liriope muscari-Big Blue Lily Turf
Liliaceae

1-1/2' high forming an evergreen clump of dark green leaves.  Flowers are dark violet in 6-8" clusters with shiny black fruit following.  There are many varieties of this species but all are best substituted with a plant better suited to the low desert.
