STEM Club Meeting Minutes
Minutes
October 18, 2002
- Reports:
- Saguaro Ranch school is in the predicament of most of the schools. The ideas sounds great to them but the still
don't know what they are going to do with us. This mentoring/tutoring program is still in progress; so far we have
that tutoring will occur twice a week. Issues still exist such as background checks having to occur in order to begin
the tutoring/mentoring program for the schools. This idea of tutoring/mentoring is now aimed for the spring semester
in order to iron out all the details. Anyone that is going to be a part of the program should have their schedule free
after 3pm next spring.
- The flyer that pat made for the club was amazing. It hasn't been printed but was available for preview via the computer.
Pat is also (with the help of others) going to work on announcing the visit of Professor Glenn Hurlbert, an ASU math advisor,
on oct. 25 and the visit from Marilyn Enlo, (another advisor) on Nov. 8 th .
- The web site is now up! Patrick made an amazing web site. The web site does not have all the material on yet,
but when it does it will include the meeting minutes, announcements, a calendar of events and tons of things concerning
the club. (gecko.gc.maricop.edu/clubs/stem)
- UNFINISHED BUISNESS
- The STEM robot
The club is going to have a mascot. It will be a robot but we do not know the exact specification the Bot will have.
Patrick our very own web site developer went over the basics of robot building. In the next couple of weeks we will begin
to build our own as soon as we gain more funds.
- The math problem
The math problem of the month will have to be put on hold until next semester. We need to set up exact specifications
for the math problem including due dates, prizes and submission etc.
