Working Off Campus
If you have a computer at home and an Internet Service Provider (ISP), you can get to your personal files and course folders on H: and S: (respectively), and your GCC Student Email from home. You cannot run software installed on college servers from off campus.
You will need the following items to work from off-campus, in addition to already have activated your eGCC Account:
- eGCC Username
- eGCC Password
If you don't have any of these items, please follow the steps below. Otherwise, click on the subheading in the left navigation bar for the topic you're interested in.
We assume you know how to connect to the Internet using your ISP. Please contact your ISP if you have trouble connecting.
How do I Activate my eGCC Account, whether I physically go to campus for class or am enrolled in Online Courses only (which don't require me to be on campus at all)?
If your classes require you to come to campus, you most likely have already scanned your Student ID on campus or have successfully logged onto one of the computers here on campus (per the instructions on the eGCC page). You are already set and should have all the information you need. Though, if you ever need to refresh your memory on your eGCC Username or reset your password, stop by either of the High Tech Centers (HT1 or HT2) and talk to any of the Instructional Associates working in the Computer Pit area.
If you are a student enrolled in Online Courses only and have never set foot on campus, then the following 3-Step procedure will guide you in activating your eGCC Account, which will also set up your Student Email Account:
- Please contact your instructor directly to obtain your eGCC Username, as they do have the authority to give it to you. If you do not know how to contact your instructor please follow the instructions located at the Get Help page. Finally, if you are unable to contact your instructor, still don't have your Username or are having trouble with your account, please call us at (623) 845-3555 during our operating hours. Once you have your eGCC Username, please continue on to Step 2.
- Your default eGCC Password will be your month and day of birth and the first three letters of your first name, entered in the format MMDDaaa.
- Once you obtain your Username, open up your Internet Browser and type in the following web address: https://genesis.gc.maricopa.edu/password/ . Enter in your Username, your default Password and then choose a new Password that is a 6-8 character long nonsensical combination of both numbers and letters. Please do NOT share your Password with anyone.

- For example, Adam Johnson might be /a/j/ajohnson . On the screen you should see "Internet or Network address:" enter in the box: https://files.gccaz.edu/home/a/j/ajohnson (change the "/a/j/ajohnson" to reflect your own username). Now, click "next."

username. For example Adam Johnson might be /a/j/ajohnson .
On the screen you should see "Connect to Server" enter the server address in this box:
https://files.gccaz.edu/home/a/j/ajohnson (change the "/a/j/ajohnson" to reflect your own username) then select "Connect." - In the resulting box titled "WebDAV File System Authorization", enter your eGCC username and password then select "Ok."
- A window will be opened displaying the files in your home directory.
