Some email providers are a problem.

When you send email using AOL, Cox, or QWest, my replies usually are delayed or returned altogether. Please do not use those providers when emailing me.

E-Mail Netiquette
Since email is the primary communication tool used in my courses, students need to follow a few simple rules:

  • Use either your student email or your non-AOL/Cox/QWest provider. Do not use another person's account, and stick with one address.
  • The subject line should either be what the lesson instructions proscribes, or, in the case of a question or other non-homework email, should include the course number, BPC135DK, CIS120DC, etc. If the email is a question, having the word, "Question", added will alert me to read it prior to grading.
  • The body of each email must include your full name and your course and section number.
  • Your emails should be written in a professional manner and style.
  • Do not ask to have a reply sent to a different address.
  • Read twice, send once.

IT'S HERE! All students now have a gmail account through the college that will be used for all official college communication. With this new Google-powered system, you will have an email address that is your MEID ( the combination of letters and numbers you use to access the student information system)@maricopa.edu. This is the way your college will send you financial aid and enrollment information and other important documents.

ALL COURSE EMAILS, INCLUDING SOME I'VE ALREADY SENT, ARE SENT TO YOUR GMAIL ACCOUNT!!

To use the system, go to www.maricopa.edu/Google. Your user name is your MEID. Your password is the password you use with your MEID to access your account in the Student Information System.

Along with your new email account you will also have access to a powerful set of Google tools, including Google Docs, an online suite of office productivity applications featuring word processing, spreadsheets and presentations. Documents are saved online, so you have access to them at any time, no matter what computer you use. If you have problems with the email system or need support, please go to www.google.com/support.

Browsers

This site was written for the major browsers:

  • Mozilla Firefox 2+
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7+ for Windows
  • Safari

Internet Explorer (IE) 6 and lower are not CSS-compliant so this site will not render correctly in those old versions. If your version of IE is 6 or less please update your browser. You can determine a browser's version by clicking on the help menu and selecting 'About ...'.

Quick Hint

Would you like to temporarily change the text size of the pages? For most browsers the key combination Ctrl + + bumps up the text size, Ctrl + - decreases it and Ctrl + 0 (zero) returns it to normal. Of course, this can be done through the View Menu as well. You should be able to increase the text size a least once without breaking the pages.

This site is primarily a resource for the courses I teach:

  • BPC/OAS135DK Word: Level I
  • BPC/OAS235DK Word: Level II
  • CIS120DC Computer Graphics: Adobe® Flash
  • CIS121AB MS Command Line
  • CIS162 C Programming I
  • CIS166AA Introduction to JavaScript
  • CIS220DC Adv. Web Programming w/Adobe® Flash

It also contains links to other sites students may find useful.

I may modify the course materials for my structured classes at any time to fit the needs of the classes. Students will be notified of any changes during their class meetings. Students in online classes will be notified through these web pages or Blackboard.

Visit often, as I will update my pages regularly.
