Syllabus  (click for a copy of the class syllabus)

The ISBN for our class textbook is 0618823476.  This is a "Special" 4th edition that was created in paperback form and contains the material for MAT220 and MAT230, it is HIGHLY unlikely that you will be able to find this "special edition" online.  If you can't find this text at our bookstore you may be able to find a "regular" 4th edition "online".  Type "Calculus Early Transcendental Functions 4th edition Larson" (without the " ") into any search engine (google for example) and you will find several places where you can obtain the textbook.  If you choose to obtain the "regular" 4th edition you should know two things.  First, the page numbers may not match so it will be up to you to figure out what pages YOUR homework problems are on (this should not be that big of a deal).  Second, you may not be able to find a "regular" edition online that is cheaper than the "special" edition in the bookstore (this may be a big deal). You will need this text for the homework problems starting with the third week of class so if you have to wait until our bookstore gets more copies in then you may not need to worry.  If you are "waiting" on the book to arrive at our bookstore or to be shipped to you then you can go to Math Solution and borrow a copy of the text and xerox the problems (although it will cost you whatever the xerox machine charges).  Math Solution has 1 copy of the special edition and 1 copy of the regular edition.

Here is a power point presentation that all incoming college students should view (especially if you recently graduated from high school) !!!  Once you have down loaded it either hit F5 on your keyboard to start the slide show or, click on "slide show" in the tool bar at the top of the screen and then click on "view slide show".  Click your mouse to advance through the slides.

Free Tutoring can be found in the Math Solution
(M-R 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m., F 8:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m, Sa 10:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m. ).

Prerequisites  ( A Poem for Calculus students)

How could you be a cowhand
If you couldn't ride a horse?
If you yearn to cook for gourmets
You'll need some food, of course.
You can master many subjects
  If you only have the will;
But how do you cope with calculus
  If your algebra is nil?

How could you sing in opera
  If you haven't any voice?
If music is too difficult
  There is another choice.
Rewards in Math are plenty
  But this obstacle looms big:
How can you shine in calculus
If you won't learn any trig?
