English 102 - Online - Spring, 2008
Instructor: Karen Schwalm

Glendale Community College
Today is November 21, 2009

Welcome to English 102!

If you have registered for section 1725 or 1726, you're in the right place electronically. Class officially begins on Monday, January 14th. This class is taught completely online, so there will be no required face-to-face meetings.

This course will be partially managed in Blackboard, a course management system. If you have never used Blackboard before, click on the link for New User and follow the instructions for setting up your account. If you have used Blackboard in a prior semester, log in and find our class by clicking on the My Courses tab. It's called 08 GCC - Spring ENG 102 Schwalm. Isn't that snazzy?

bulletStudents must begin this class in Blackboard by Wednesday, January 16th or they will be dropped from the course. Note that there are several assignments due the first week of class.

English 102 concentrates on learning how to read and write from source materials. It builds on many of the skills you developed in English 101, so while much will be familiar, we'll learn many new skills also.

Read more about this course -- the syllabus, kinds of assignments, writing topics, grading policies, good password practices, some frequently asked questions, advice from previous ENG102 students, and the research topic. You can also see how the assignment pages will work. Once you have purchased the handbook for this class, you can also take the Handbook Tour.

You can begin the course orientation at any time.

I am really looking forward to this semester. It's going to be fun and challenging!
