Life Span Development PSY240

Dear Student,

Human development is packed with interesting facts that could help us understand how we undergo transformations and also how we stay the same throughout our lifespan. My job as an instructor is to guide you through these topics and help you continue your own development as well. One of the main reasons why I enjoy teaching this class is that I find it provides my students with concrete knowledge that can be applied to their own personal and professional life. As you take this class, you will find you start thinking in new ways about everyday events and human characteristics. I will make every effort to make this class informative and enjoyable, and will strive to provide you with a learning environment that is open, friendly, intellectually challenging, and productive.
The following are quotes some of my past students wrote as they reflected back upon the content covered in this class:

“Humans are so beautiful… It’s amazing to think we were all once just a small cluster of cells… I remember different people calling me ugly, but I am not.” E. M.

“It was so interesting to go out and try some of the cognitive tricks with my own children. They think very different from one another because they are at different stages.” J. B.

“I used to think that some people are just bad. But, you have to consider their life circumstances. So, I really worry about so many children living in abusive homes and living in poverty.” T. R.

“I find that I now see children who come into our clinic very differently. For example, I wonder how they are going to be as adults. Would they be happy?” S. J.
