Directions to Access MIDAS Gradebook

You can check your current grade at any time using MIDAS at http://www.maricopa.edu/midas/

bulletClick on the link for Glendale Community College. 
bulletLogin to MIDAS using your Palette username and password
(when asked "Do you want to display nonsecure items?"  click on Yes). 
bulletLocate the folder for your ENG101 course.  Place your mouse pointer over the folder and a drop-down box will appear. Select Gradebook and click on it.  You will see your current grades.

Discussion Participation

Every student is expected to contribute to the current discussion topic in the Discussion Boards. Points will be awarded for frequent and substantial contributions that encourage and add to the conversation, up to a total of 16 points (1 point a week for 16 weeks during the semester).

Essay Grade Equivalents:

A =  13 - 15 points
B =  10 - 12 points
C =  7 - 9 points
D =  4 - 6 points
F =  0 - 3

Point Totals:

87 points possible for assignments #1 through #6  (12 to 15 points per assignment)
20 possible for peer review participation  (5 each for assignments 2,3,5, and 6)
16 possible for discussion group participation (1 point per week)
 5 possible for Jumpstart quiz

128 points total

Scale:  A =  108 - 128  (85% - 100%)
           B =    86 - 107  (67% -  84%)
           C =    64 -  85  (50% - 66%)
           D =    42 -  63  (33% - 49%)
           F =    41 points and below  (below 32%)

Final Grades

Final grade notices are no longer mailed to students.  Upon completion of the course, students may obtain their final grade one of two ways using their student identification number and pin number.
