Using FTP to get to
your H: Drive and Your S: Drive

This document is written as though you are at your home computer and you have WS-FTP(LE) or an equivalent FTP program installed on your home PC. If you do not have WS-FTP(LE) or an equivalent installed, then you can download a free version of WS-FTP(LE) from my web site:
Here is a picture of a portion of my site; right click on Get FTP, select Save Target As and save the .exe file on your home desktop. Then navigate to your home desktop, and to the .exe file using Windows Explorer, and double click on the .exe file to run the WS-FTP install program.

Once you have installed WS-FTP(LE), run the program and follow the steps shown below:
Using FTP to get to your H: Drive
The first time you start WS-FTP, you will probably get a page like this:

In the Session Properties window, click on New so you can create a new session profile. This window will appear.

Fill in the form as shown below:
GCCAZ-H is an aribitrary
name, but it describes your H drive, so I would suggest you use it. Host name must be as
shown. Host type should be as
shown. User ID should be your
palette username. Password should be your
palette password.

Next, click on the StartUp tab. Fill it in as shown below.

The \home directory is
required. The \r is the first
letter in your username. The \d is the 2nd
letter in your username. The rdmciver is your
username.

next, click the OK button.
Connection is then initiated and the next screen you see should look similar to Figure 5.

Using FTP to get to your S: Drive
Create a new Session as shown in Figure 6 below:

Use you username and your password. Clcik on the Startup tab and fill in the form as shown below:

Press the OK button and the following window should be displayed:

The shared courses folders are shown in the right hand (remote) window. Double click on a folder name to expand the folder and navigate down to your Section and to your username.
You can now transfer files from your local machine (home computer) to the S: drive at GCC.
