Welcome!
A new president and Congress, a nation in economic crisis, two unpopular wars, a Supreme Court docket loaded with controversial cases, and uncertainty on the state and local front... Could the study of politics be more timely? This spring in POS 223 (Civil Rights), we'll be studying the hot issues: domestic spying, abortion, affirmative action, gay rights, internet porn, the death penalty, church/state controversies, racial profiling, and more. In POS 222 (U.S. Constitution) we'll take a hard look at the president's war powers. In POS 221 (Arizona Constitution) we'll be monitoring a possible change in the executive branch. And in POS 100 (Intoduction to Political Science) we'll be putting it all together while we explore the vocabulary of the discipline. I hope to see you in class this spring!
