The geologic cross section can also offer information about relative thickness of rock units as well as information about relative age (as we saw in the relative age module). It should be noted, though, that unless a cross section has been drawn perpendicular to the strike of bedding, the dips of beds on the geological cross section may appear less than their true dip.
