There is an unconformity between
the Redwall Limestone and the Dakota Sandstone at the south edge
of the Note Cliffs. Which type is it?
- A. Angular
unconformity. The Dakota Sandstone and Redwall Limestone are
both sedimentary. This eliminates Nonconformity. Yet the patterns
of the Note Cliffs don't match those of the surrounding rocks
eliminating disconformity. Close inspection shows Note Cliffs
rocks to be horizontal whereas the surrounding rocks are dipping.
- B. Nonconformity
- C. Disconformity
