After the erosion, the area must subside again (tectonic causes) and the Banana Sandstone is deposited. Note that the layers on either side of the unconformity are at different angles. The Banana Sandsstone is flat and the other layers are tilted at a different angle. When an unconformity has layered rocks on either side at different angles, it is given a special name-- an angular unconformity.
